interview by Dana Berri

What did you feel when the two soldiers were captured?
I felt happy, but I was afraid of the reaction of the Israelis, and I never thought we’d be entering a destructive war like that for one month.

Where have you been and what did you feel?
I was in France and I was afraid for my relatives, friends, my school and my teachers.

Were you sad for being distant from your friends?
Yes, I was very sad, and I didn't know if I would see them again or not - especially as some of them remained in the village.

Who stayed from your relatives?
All except my family and my uncle and his sons. We all left for France.

Was any of your acquaintance injured?
No, but my mom's friend was martyred when the plane bombed him.

Who is he? And how did you feel?
He was a lovely and good grocer. All the village loved him and felt a loss for his death.

Were you always following news?
Yes, all the time, even at night. I was watching Lebanon's news, and sometimes I felt afraid.

Did you ever think of a solution for the crisis?
No, because Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has thought before me… He is our leader and whatever he promises, he does. But I felt afraid of the sound of bombing. However, I always remembered that our president would find a solution with Sayyed Hassan and the Resistance would protect us and we would win.

Did you ever think that you wouldn’t be able to come back to your country?
No, even if the war continued, we'd return to our country because we are resilient in our country.

What did you feel when the war ended?
I was very happy when I heard that on the news. I was happy because I would see my relatives and friends and mostly because I would go back to my lovely house.

Did you return shortly after?
Yes, after five days because we couldn't stay away from our country.

How did you feel?
I felt very sad when I saw our beautiful green country, which was the most beautiful in the world, destroyed. But with the power of our people and the resilience of our people, we'll rebuild our country.

How was your reaction when you returned and saw the destruction?
I was so sad for this country that was full of green nature, and factories.

Were any of your friends' houses destroyed?
Yes, my lovely friend Dana Birri's, whose house was totally destroyed. It consisted of two stories and was surrounded by a garden. But thanks to God they have another house in the village.

How did you feel when you saw UNIFIL?
I felt very happy and safe when I saw UNIFIL forces in our country because they helped many people and they helped the injured by providing hospitals and clubs.

How did you feel about the ambulance?
I loved them because they risk themselves to rescue injured people. Besides, many of the medics were seriously injured, and they were not only rescuing people but also distributing rations and aid to people.
