All the workshop's participants were teachers at The Sadr Foundation's centers in Tyre and Dahiyeh. And all were affected by last year's summer war in some way - having to flee, worry about their children's safety, and live with the war's daily violence for more than 34 days.

They wanted to learn technical filmmaking skills to eventually pass onto their students, with an overall goal of facilitating communication, ideas and debate.

During the workshop the participants researched the mindset of people in their communities, during and after the war. They brought their questions and video cameras to the streets of Saida, Tyre, Bint Jbeil and Dahiyeh. They wondered especially about what Lebanon means to people now, what this coming summer may bring, and how Lebanese mothers deal with the painful issue of martyrdom.

Their resulting films are a rich and varied compilation of these interviews - reflecting both the complex views of the people they encountered, and the overall situation Lebanon finds itself in today. "[Film making] is very useful for communication," the group told Samar. "It is important because although we all live together, we have very different ideas on how to live together."
