Sausan and Amal visited the Abu Jihad al Wazir Foundation for Handicapped in Rashidyeh camp, where they photographed and spoke with the people about the ways in which they were fighting to overcome the difficulties presented by their disabilities.

I am a mother of four children and despite my physical disability I managed to overcome it.
I work all the household work by myself, and I serve my family as any other mother. |
I find life so difficult, in my early life I was psychologically disturbed. |
Gradually, I started to cope with this and I learned how to fix wagons. I became professional in this, and I started to work and earn money to help my family. |
I lost my sight since childhood, but thank God I had strong will. |
I learned Braille and I succeeded in it, then I became a teacher for blind children. |
Despite my health and difficult social life, I learned sewing and embroidery. |
Through this skill, my neighbors started to come to me to fix their clothes, and in my spare time I embroider. This is how I help myself. |
I have very difficult living conditions, and my children are demanding. I had an idea to open the door of my room that faces the main street and transform it to a vegetable shop. My financial conditions have improved and I am overcoming the difficulties of life. |

I always had disability in the hand and the leg but since childhood at school, I always loved drawing. At the time, no one encouraged me in my hobby. I joined the painting section at Abu Jihad al Wazir Foundation for Handicapped in Rashidyeh camp and I started to improve little by little until I mastered it. My financial reward from that skill improved my living and psychological conditions. |
