workshop: crystallizing dreams

This workshop focused on the theme of crystallizing dreams and took place at Dar Al Amal in Bourj Hammoud with five young girls who met over the course of almost four months. The idea of “crystallizing dreams” is based on the concept of Visual Transitions. It incorporates transitioning between art, Polaroid and digital photography, sound, and writing. Within the framework of this workshop, participants were granted the opportunity to crystallize their “dreams” in the form of drawings, photographs, and voice recording; culminating both in individual short films, as well as a group film.

The participants documented their process throughout the workshop as a whole and their works were a result of crystallizing both that process itself as well as their dreams for the future. A general sharing of the experience took place in the group weekly, relating it to possible change in the outside world and the participants’ respective lives.
