Baghdad to Beirut was a photography workshop geared towards young Iraqi refugees living in Beirut. The goal of this project was to inspire the displaced youth of Iraq to build a photo narrative about their current experience as refugees in Lebanon. The participants were asked to venture out of their usual routine in order to capture the elements of their new surroundings that bring them home, so to speak. They were given the freedom to take this narrative in any desired direction.

The workshop was held at the Women's Center of the Norwegian Refugee Council in Shiyah. Five young women participated in the workshop. Over the course of the first two sessions, their desired themes for the project became clear. They began shooting their environment, some focusing on their lives in Lebanon in comparison to their lives back home in Iraq. Every session, we would look at each participant's photos and edit them as a group. The girls worked very well as a team and I believe inspired each other throughout the workshop.
