workshop: challenging media stereotypes 4 - May

The first exercise was about choosing a topic and roaming around with the kids and having them point out images related to the topic. I chose the gardener. We stayed in the classroom and at first they thought I was tricking them but then they quickly started to enjoy the challenge of going around and finding things that related to the topic such as drawings or words like “spring” or “may” and flowers. I was not very at ease doing this exercise though because I didn’t get the purpose of it and neither did the kids.

Exercise 2 was about having the kids interview each other and I had two groups of two.
Nathalie who is everybody’s favorite in the school seemed to express herself freely far from the constant pressure on her. Imone was relaxed as well because usually she’s always angry and nagging.

Hiba and Grace who usually can’t stand each other and are always shouting at one another during class seemed delighted to be given a chance to speak and they were very creative and unpredictable in choosing their questions.
