Taxi Talk 2nd - 8th December 2009

Shot in service taxis around the city, Taxi Talk features drivers engaging their passengers in conversations on a variety of subjects that shed light on the everyday lives and concerns of Beruitis today. The following screenings will be taking place in December:

  • Wednesday 2nd 7.30pm - Club 43, Gouraud Street, Gemmayzeh
  • Thursday 3rd 7.30pm - Zico House, Spears Street, Sanayeh
  • Friday 4th 7.30pm - T-Marbouta, Pavillon Centre (1st Floor), Hamra
  • Monday 7th 7.30pm - Dardachat Café, Corniche Ain El-Mreisseh
  • Tuesday 8th 7.30pm - The Hangar, UMAM D&R, Haret Hreik, next to al-Mahdy Mosque

Free entry to all screenings. All screenings will be followed by an informal, open discussion.  

British Council Award

Lens on Lebanon has been recently chosen by the British Council as one of the ten finalists for the their inaugural International Young Visual Arts Entrepreneur (IYVAE) 2008 Award. The Lens on Lebanon Local Director will be travelling to the UK in October to participate in a shared tour of the UK visual arts sector, and to compete for the international award.

Al Jazeera report

Al Jazeera English broadcast a report on Lens on Lebanon on 11 September explaining the project and following the project at Beddawi and Naher al Bared camps that took place the previous week.

Screening at Saida

Lens on Lebanon held an exhibtion and screening at Saida Municipality on Saturday 25 August.

   

    

Nomadic Dream Machine

On 23 August there was a screening of the series of videos Am I dreaming. The short films were shown on a mobile cinema, the Nomadic Dream Machine, that can screen outdoors in daylight to an audience of up to 3,000. The truck contains a mobile editing station with sattelite internet connection designed to work with grass-roots collectives for little cost.

Lens on Lebanon Film and Photo Festival

On Saturday 14 July at the T-Marbouta Cafe in Beruit, a selection of films from the Lens on Lebanon workshops were screened alongside exhibits of some of the photo narrative projects. The event was covered by the Daily Star (read the article). .
